Jan. 15th at The Emerson Cultural Center 6pm-9 pm
Graffiti -- 6:30-7pm
We will not be able to do a live painting, unless the weather allows us to put something together outside of Emerson Cultural Center. We will plan on local artist John Warren, Brian Koenig, Gabriel Schiers, and Nekst to display some of their graffiti pieces. The Pieces will be floating around the Emerson Ballroom. Artist will also have the option to give a brief speech about their influences.
DJ -- 7-7:30pm
We will present 2 to 3 Local DJ's to perform a display of the different forms of Deejaying. This DJ portion will provide a great show of old school Mixing, Scratching. To show the current and future trends of Hip Hop we will step into the New School with Beat Making Deejay's and HD Projector Video Deejaying.
B -Boy (Break Dancing) --7:30-8:00pm
This Element will be represented by local Bozeman dance crews “Montana Freestylers" and the “Hip Hop Disciples” who will team up to do an old school competition set versus the “Soled Out Crew” out of Missoula, MT. “Montana Freestylers” is led by Debbie Vetter features exchange and local students. “Hip Hop Disciples” is headed by Bozeman native Tuzco and consists of local High School and Junior High School students. “Soled Out Crew” Is led by University of Montana students Zach Ford, Will Bradley, Trevor Pressler, and Satoshi Kubo. All of the dance crews will collaborate on a choreographed B-Boy battle dance showcase. The showcase will be judged by Abstract Rude winning Crew will be presented with a Trophy.
MC -- 8:00-9:00pm
We will have a 16 Bars Rap Off. 16 Bars is a basic verse in a Rap song. We will invite 4 local M.C.'s to write an original verse/16 Bars. The MC's will get three different topics to write three verses about. We will also have a Wild Card Battle at Cactus Records for non-invited M.C.'s that feel they have what it takes to be in the 16 Bars Rap Off. (The Wildcard event will be on Jan. 13th). The 16 Bar Rap off will be Judged by Ryhmesayer's Artist /Producer “Abstract Rude” and “Shames Worthy” and Cactus Records Owner Mike “Bueno” Good. After the battle we will have “Shames Worthy” perform a 20-30 min Hip Hop Set.
Also as part of the 16 Bar Rap off we will have a beat contest for local producers. Winning Beats will be paired up with the Three Topics for MC's to use. Producers will be able to turn in beats by emailing Soundcloud Links or they can drop off hard copies to Cactus Records/Nightlife. For more details about beat contest check out www.bozemanskissfm.com
Abstract Rude- As a product of the legendary Good life open mic sessions, Abstract Rude splashed onto the scene in 1994 as part of the famed Project Blowed crew that included LA's Freestyle Fellowship and Aceyalone. As one half of the A-Team (with Aceyalone), one third of Haiku D'Etat (with Aceyalone & Myka 9) and frontman of his group Abstract Tribe Unique (ATU), Ab Rude has endeared himself to fans worldwide through consistent touring and genre defining albums. Once signed to the Beastie Boys Grand Royal imprint, Ab has readied himself to re-emerge with Rhymesayers Entertainment and his most consistent and focused work to date, Rejuvenation. Produced entirely by Seattle super producer Vitamin D (G-Unit, Redman, Young Buck, Gift of Gab, Choklate, Shames Worthy- He's been referred to as “the emcee's emcee”. He's a founding member of the Tunnel Rats crew as well as the group Footsoldiers. Raphi, who now goes by Shames Worthy, paid his dues at such legendary spots as The Good Life, Project Blowed, Elements, Unity, and The Breaks & Foundation during “the wonder years” of L.A. Hip-Hop.
